Economics is considered as the oldest of the Arts and the newest of the Science subjects. The life of every individual from womb to tomb faces the harsh truths of Economics. It is aptly called the “Queen of Social Sciences”.
About the Department:
The Department of Economics was established in 1983 as one of the core subjects of the programme B.A (T.M.) – History, Economics and Political Science.
ADD-ON Courses:
The Department offers the Add-on Course ‘Fundamentals of Insurance’ and ‘Practice of Life Insurance’ to all the undergraduate students and a Bridge Course in the fundamentals of the subject for the 1st year B.A. students who hail from different courses.
Vision:
To transform the young girls into women with integrity in financial management at home and in all professions of their choice through imparting basic knowledge in the concepts of Economics and their application in the utilization of resources rationally for the betterment of the nation.
Mission:
- To equip the students with up to date knowledge in the subject inculcating the habit of following latest books and Journals.
- To impart practical knowledge of financial management through field visits, surveys and project work.
- To build the character of students as good professionals by imparting economic values and ethics
- To empower them to be more humane towards the society.

- The Dept. Library is maintained with 200 text books based on the syllabus and Reference Books which cater to the needs of the economically weak students
