The Department of Political Science was established in 1983 when BA Programme in Telugu Medium was introduced with History, Economics and Political Science as core subjects. In 2005, a new Certificate Course “Concepts and Theories of Public Administration” was started. Project Work was made mandatory for the final year students since 2007. In 2008 a Foundation Course was initiated for first year students. An Add-on Course titled “Perspective of Indian Constitution” was introduced from the academic year 2017-2018. The Department regularly conducts Assignments, Quiz, Seminars, Group Discussions and Remedial Classes for the students.
Tutorial Record has been maintained for the slow and weak learners. Parent-Teacher Meets are arranged regularly. Students are provided with Study Material and Slip Tests are conducted at regular intervals. Moral values are inculcated among students through the Foundation Course “Human Values and Professional Ethics”. To enhance job prospects guidance is given to the final year students for competitive exams. Guest Lectures and Seminars are arranged on relevant topics as and when necessary.
VISION:
To create an atmosphere that promotes tolerance and acceptance of differing viewpoints on political and social matters and foster civic mindedness and civic responsibility among young girls to contribute to a better understanding of the world by engaging themselves in and supporting intercultural and interdisciplinary studies.

- Provide exposure to students on local political scenario through project works and identify practical solutions to social problems.
- Conduct surveys on current issues of the society to enhance their ability to solve the future problems.
