Overview
The Department of Statistics was established in 1998. The Department offers four programmes
B.Sc. (Mathematics, Statistics & Computer science)
B.Sc. (Mathematics, Statistics & Computer Applications)
B.Sc. (Honors)
B.Sc. (Mathematics, Statistics & Data Science).
B.Sc. Honors (Statistics)
Department also offers two Add on courses-
Basic Statistics
Descriptive Statistics.
AIM: The department of Statistics aims to enhance skills of the students in data analysis and modelling in the field of probability and statistics and help them in further research work in the computer- supported applied field of statistics.
OBJECTIVES: To help the students to achieve an advanced level of statistical issues and jointly work with their stakeholders, and also carry out effective projects independently and gain competence in computer software programming, R-Programming, Data Analysis using various statistical techniques.
The department believes that there should be continuous knowledge up gradation which is achieved by means of student and faculty Paper Publications, regular participation in Seminars, Guest Lectures, workshops and other knowledge enrichment Programmes (National Statistics Day).
Keeping in view the benefit of students the syllabus is upgraded for every three years which also meets the requirement of students preparing for various competitive exams in statistics like -INDIAN STATISTICAL SERVICES (ISS), ASSISTANT STATISTICAL OFFICER (ASO), CSIR-NET, UGC NET, SLET, etc.
As a regular feature of the department the faculty attend and present papers in International Conferences and National Seminars and also publish papers in various International Journals. One member of the faculty is pursuing her Ph.D.
The Department library has a good collection of books, journals and periodicals. The department is also equipped with SPSS package used for data analysis of students and faculty thesis.

VISION: To promote the students to gain the knowledge of statistics in both theory & practical applications with special reference to formulation, planning and problem solving.
MISSION
The Mission of the department of Statistics is
· To contribute to the overall objectives of Sri Durga Malleswara Siddhartha Mahila Kalasala through excellence in education in the statistical sciences and through service to the college, statistical profession, and society at large.
· To help students to develop the ability to understand and communicate the results and also be able to implement sound statistical methodology to strengthen scientific conclusions.
· To provide students with the statistical and computational knowledge and skills necessary to handle complex real-world problems and to pursue careers in both applied and theoretical areas of statistics.
