Overview

                The Department of Telugu was started in 1983.  The department organizes National seminars and celebrates Telugu Bhasha Dinotsvam  and Mathru Bhasha Dinotsvam every year. The Faculty Participated and presented papers in International conferences and National seminars. Almost all the members of the Department published papers in various journals and magazines. In addition to seminars many career development programs are conducted by the department.

                 The department has a well-furnished staff room and maintains a library with a good number of reference books, Autobiographies, Epics, Novels, Journals and Periodicals and prizes are given to meritorious students every year.

                   The syllabus is changed for every 3 years to prepare the students to face various competitive examinations like UPSC, APPSC, NET, SLET etc.

Aims of the Department

  • To educate the students about the nuances of Telugu language.
  • To make the students realize the importance of rituals and develop love towards Indian culture and heritage through Telugu literature.
  • To promote oratory skills through public speaking and make them participate in seminars.
  • To motivate the students to prepare Projects on poetry, novels, book reviews, display charts and wall magazines.
  • To arrange Study Tours.

Vision

  • To make the students as good translators and good speakers of Telugu.
  • To make the students good professionals in media   and Journalism.
  • To make proactive responsible women.

Mission

  • To promote the values in the fields of literary, cultural, educational, social and community through Telugu language.

 Events :

  • Organised many National Seminars, Astavadhanam and Guest Lectures.
  • Conducted Academic Competitions like Essay writing, Elocution, Debate, Written Quiz and Spandana to improve creative thinking and writing abilities of the students.
  • Students actively collected signatures from people of all walks of life who agreed that Telugu language should be considered as an ancient language and the Papers were sent to the Official Language Committee.
  • MOUs and Collaborations with other institutions for practical exposure.

Curricular Activities

  • “Geetha Patanam” was conducted by the faculty to make students understand Bhagvadgeetha.
  • Field trips : Students visited:
  1. Undavalli caves 2. Navuluri putta 3. Kalankari program.
  2. World Telugu writers Association meeting.

                             And they helped them to gain insights into various traditions, customs and culture.

 Sahithi Sowrabham -Telugu Club

         The Club celebrates Matru Bhasha Vedukalu and conducts Literary competitions such as

  • Sathaka padya patanam
  • Telugu prasangalu
  • Literary Quiz
