The Department of Applied Nutrition was established in the year 1993.

Courses Offered:

  • BSc FMB (Food Science and Technology, Microbiology and Biochemistry)
  • BSc FMC (Food Science and Technology, Microbiology and Chemistry)

  • Bakery Technology.

Highlights of the Department:

  • The department is strong in research. It has 4 faculty members of which 3 of them are Ph.D holders with 10 to 25 years of experience.
  • The department was adjudged the best department in the college for three years.
  • The department is achieving 100% result every year.
  • The department regularly organizes activities like guest lectures, seminars, workshops, extension activities and field visits to impart practical knowledge.
  • Progression to higher education is more than 50%.
  • Students were awarded Prathiba Awards and Gold Medals.

Vision:

          To equip the students with relevant, substantial knowledge and skill in Nutritional Science and in the advancement of Food Science and Technology for the wellbeing of the society.

Mission:

  • The department aims to train students to become nutritional professionals.
  • The objective is to create nutrition awareness to students through community outreach programs.
  • To ensure employability of the students through skill enhancement activities.
  • Conducting research and extension work in the thrust areas of Food Science & Technology.
